Overview

The programme of Performing Arts Studies seeks to prepare a music performer that is able to apply and improve professional skills and knowledge, and successfully integrate oneself into the market of professional performing. An absolvent has to use own knowledge and skills of performance art, methods and teaching to express oneself in the variety of national and international styles of musical culture. Future performers study general subjects of university studies (foreign languages, psychology, philosophy, specialty language, etc.), compulsory subjects (music history, musical language, solfeggio, musical computer technologies, culture projects management, etc.) and specialization subjects (choir conducting and organ studies: choral conducting, knowledge of scores, choir studies, organ, liturgy, etc.; singing: solo and chamber singing, opera studies, vocal and chamber ensemble, etc.; jazz and popular music: spec. instrument and the basics of rhythm, ensemble studies, piano and improvisation, etc.; piano: piano, chamber and piano ensemble, carillon, concertmaster class, etc.; folk music: spec. instrument, knowledge of folk instruments, ensemble studies, conducting, etc.; wind and string music: spec. instrument, conducting, ensemble, orchestra studies, instrumentation, etc.).

- Choir Conducting and Organ Studies, The graduates can work as leaders (choirmasters) of choirs and other vocal ensembles in various cultural and education institutions and as organists-cantors in church. After choosing minor studies and acquiring qualification of a pedagogue, graduates can work as teachers in art, music or in specialized secondary schools and gymnasiums.
- Singing, The graduates can work as soloists, professional choir artists at musical theatres and other cultural and educational institutions. After choosing minor studies and acquiring qualification of a pedagogue, graduates can work as teachers in art, music or in specialized secondary schools and gymnasiums.
- Jazz and Popular Music, The graduates can work as orchestra or ensemble performers (artists) and leaders, create own groups. After choosing minor studies and acquiring qualification of a pedagogue, graduates can work as teachers in art, music or in specialized secondary schools and gymnasiums.
- Piano, The graduates can work as concertmasters, and to be active in performance sphere as soloists or members of chamber ensemble. After choosing minor studies and acquiring qualification of a pedagogue, graduates can work as teachers in art, music or in specialized secondary schools and gymnasiums.
- Folk Music, The graduates can work as performers, artists of Lithuanian folk instrumental orchestras, ensembles, or leaders of folk music ensembles. After choosing minor studies and acquiring qualification of a pedagogue, graduates can work as teachers in art, music or in specialized secondary schools and gymnasiums.
- Wind and String Music, The graduates can work as orchestra and ensemble performers – instrumentalists, to lead and conduct wind or string instrument orchestras. After choosing minor studies and acquiring qualification of a pedagogue, graduates can work as teachers in art, music or in specialized secondary schools and gymnasiums.
